News from the Field – November 2022

Buses, planes, and river boats! That’s how our very first “Marriage on Mission” retreat and mission trip began. Open Arms Worldwide and our partners at Reston Bible Church and Justice & Mercy Amazon (JMA) joined forces to lead a team of couples on an amazing week of service and investing in their marriages.
The theme was “The Meeting of the Waters,” which, appropriately, we navigated through on our way to our first village. Pastors Paul Goodnight, Jason Van Dorsten, and Mike Meyers led our couples on a “journey to oneness,” while our Open Arms Agents of Hope, our Medical missionaries, and the crew from JMA led us in service to three small villages who had never received a team like this.
In each village we partnered with local pastors to bolster their work of bringing the gospel message to their neighbors. We brought bible teaching, games, crafts, a beauty salon, clothing bazar, and an amazing medical clinic complete with some minor surgeries and a full pharmacy! There are too many stories to share them all here, but someone once said a picture is worth a thousand words.
