News from the Field – January 2021

In Person Ministry Up & Running!

As temperatures in Brazil have risen in our region, local authorities have further relaxed restrictions on group gatherings. Our team of missionaries have jumped right in. All of our pre-Covid neighborhood outreach ministries in São Paulo state and Parana state have resumed. The children are thrilled to be back. Just as exciting is that many of the children we were able to minister to during the lock-downs, but who had not previously participated in an Open Arms mission project, have now begun attending in person. We are already beginning to see the fruit of faithful gospel ministry during the pandemic. He does indeed work ALL things together for good!

Continuing to Feed the Hungry
Our team of Agents of Hope and volunteers across 3 states in Brazil, continue to provide food for the hungry even as they bring the “bread of life” from door to door, and house to house. (Pictured below – Sarita & Rodrigo delivering food in Aquidauana)

A Time of Refreshing
In early December, thanks to kind supporters like you, both in the US and in Brazil, our Agents of Hope, their families, and a few select volunteers, were able to get away for a few days of spiritual and physical refreshing after 9 months of intense ministry. One of our volunteer outreach coordinators, who came to faith several years ago through the ministry of Open Arms, decided to be baptized during the retreat. What a sweet gift and blessing for our team! (Pictured below – Team Retreat & Luzia’s Baptism)

With many generous gifts during our end of year campaign, we were able to bring Christmas to the community. Due to Covid-19, many of our usual activities for Christmas were cancelled, and yet with your support, we were able to bless the kids with some treats and the message of the good news of Jesus.

The faithful prayers and giving of people just like you allow us to continue to bring hope to thousands of children and their families. We give thanks for all of our partners in this ministry!
